Not sure about those two markets,

thinking about energy all the time.

With the new regime here in the us,
things that are changing in Europe,

as well as some of the things that
are happening in South America.

And of course in the Middle East.

Great time to be talking about energy,
especially here in Miami, which

is the greatest spot in the world.

So with all of that in mind and Sure.

And the noise in this space.

What do you need to be able to pick
out the best opportunities and what do

you need to be wary of as an investor?

I think in general, you have to think
about where we are in energy overall.

And I think there's a lot of confusion.

If we were having this
conversation last year here.

In Miami, I think we'd be
talking about a different kind of

opportunity set than there is today.

I think right now I think we need
to think about looking at the US

and the opportunities that President
Trump and his administration are

promoting for the new gas lines.

Obviously they're trying to expand
the production of oil here in the us

the minerals deal in in the Ukraine.

So I think you have to start really
looking to, listening to what's

coming outta Washington and think
about how to react to that in a

very positive and negative way.

There are opportunities in all sites,
but I think that's the key right now to

listen to what's coming outta Washington.

But also you really need to think
about what's coming outta Europe

because obviously we've all seen
the headlines in the last few

weeks, particularly with Europe.

Re-arming themselves.

It seems like it's gonna be the first
time they say since the cold world.

But really if we look back, it's the
first time since World War II where

it seems like everybody's thinking
about arming arm re-arming themselves.

And that could present a lot
of opportunities as well.

And not suggesting we want war, no one
wants that, but there are opportunities

when things like that happen.

And I think so those are the
areas you have to look at.

I think you have to be also
very careful about the way.

The president in particular, and his, team
is looking at certain areas of the world.

So I think what's happening in the
Middle East is, a, is always top of

mind for everybody, but perhaps that
opportunity is over especially if

drill baby drill becomes a reality.

I think that's a big issue.

And I think some, you
have to really focus on

US energy independence.

Yes.

Becoming a much hotter topic.

It's not only US energy independence,
but it's also US energy independence.

With being a global producer, right?

A global provider.

So I think that's exciting too.

With all of that in mind that you've
just talked about there, how does what's

been on the top of agendas with the ESG
kind of agenda play into all of that?

Because obviously you're working
in a, in the energy sector.

Yeah.

There's an area of this that says what's
the responsible sustainable investment

landscape look like in all of this?

Yeah.

I'm probably the wrong guy to ask
about ESG, 'cause I think ESG is

window dressing quite honestly.

I think that you see a lot of things.

Let's take London for example.

You have a mayor of London who has decided
that you only can have electric cars

{{00:03:34}}
right, at a certain point in the future.

Yet all these cars that are stopping
and starting all the time are creating

more issues for the environment.

{{00:03:42}}
Based on the way he's reset the city
in terms of the, the speed limit.

So I I think it's a questionable, I
think right now you had a pendulum

{{00:03:53}}
that went all the way to the left with
ESG, and perhaps we have one that's

{{00:03:58}}
all the way to the right, right now.

{{00:03:59}}
But I think what'll happen is it'll
come back to the middle and people make

{{00:04:02}}
sensitive solu come up with sensitive
ideas, which provide sensible solutions.

And I guess it's a, it's actually
about sort of energy security Exactly.

And demand increasing as well
and how that all plays into

that kind of sustainable model.

But there's good sustainability
and there's bad sustainability.

It's, insane to think that everyone's
gonna have an electric car at some point.

It, just not, it's not realistic.

Okay.

But it's also not insane to think that
why can't we limit our use of plastic?

Why can't we stop using so much plastic?

Why can't we convert to using things
that are more energy excuse me,

more sustainable that will reduce
our amount of energy that we need.

We have a big problem, particularly
in this country, with garbage and

trash and, 20 miles from here, there's
a big debate going on regarding

what to do with the landfills.

If we started using products
that were more energy efficient,

more sustainable, then we would
not have these sort of issues.

So I think that's what's happening now.

I think people are gonna be making smarter
decisions or more thoughtful decisions

versus just saying, no more gas cars.

No more no more plastic straws.

Those things don't make sense.

It's, you went too we, went too far left.

And now we might be too far.

But I do think we'll
come back to the middle.

So with all of what we've just talked
about and all that noise out there, if

there is a coming together of, those,
the left and the right as you described

it, where do you think the opportunity
is and, what will you be focused in on?

I'd be focused in, on technology to make
it more efficient to pull minerals, oil,

and other things out of the ground to
use more efficiently as well as come

{{00:05:40}}
up with the use of technology to make

{{00:05:44}}
our world more sustainable.

I think that's what we
have to be looking at.

That's where the, excitement is right now.

And just finally, how useful is it for
you to be an event like this where you

get to have conversations with people
who are working in the same area,

who are facing the same challenges?
