Emily Geisen
Emily is a Senior Experience Management (XM) Scientist and Survey Methodologist at Qualtrics. She is the lead author of the 2017 book, Usability Testing for Survey Research. She teaches graduate courses on Questionnaire Design at the University of North Carolina and Usability Testing at the International Program for Survey and Data Science. She is the current editor-in-chief for the online journal Survey Practice. At Qualtrics, she specializes in improving data quality in research by employing best practices in questionnaire design, visual design, survey pretesting, and data science. She also manages a team of project managers that delivers insightful XM data to clients who want to design and improve experiences for consumers, communities, and employees. Prior to Qualtrics, Emily managed RTI International’s Cognitive/Usability Laboratory evaluating methods for reducing error in surveys. In her role at RTI, she contributed to the 2020 US Census online questionnaires, the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals Rankings, the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, and the National Cancer Institute’s Survey of Precision Medicine in Cancer Treatment
