Martin Edelmann, DIPL.-ING.
I studied Biological Chemistry at the University of Applied Science Mannheim in 2003 and completed my diploma thesis at Novartis in Switzerland in 2006. After 4 years of research in medicinal chemistry at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, I moved to Roche's isotope synthesis laboratory at the end of 2010. I am responsible for labelling small molecules, oligonucleotides, and proteins with carbon-14 and tritium. At the beginning of 2020 I started my PhD at the University of Bath in the department of Pharmacy & Pharmacology under supervision of Prof. Ian S. Blagbrough and Prof. Stephen M. Husbands (University of Bath) as well as Dr. Michael B. Otteneder and Dr. Filippo Sladojevich (F. Hoffmann-La Roche). The aim of my PhD thesis is to investigate new ways of radiolabelling nucleic acid based medicines and biomolecules for tracking and monitoring. My talk describes a part of my PhD on a novel method to label oligonucleotides.
