Willem Wellinghoff

Willem Wellinghoff is the Group Chief Compliance and Risk Officer and UK MLRO of the PMA Media Group with global responsibility for compliance and risk relating to its payments, lifestyle and crypto services businesses. Previously Willem was a co-founding member of a digital escrow and payments business of Shieldpay and Paycast, part of SPG serving as Chief Legal and Compliance Officer. Known for his personable approach and industry leading focus and views, Willem has held significant hybrid roles in both legal and compliance with large financial services institutions to startup and high growth fintech firms and is well versed in navigating the complexities of scaling a global compliance function in an agile and technological focus manner. Willem is also a mentor and advisor to several accelerators and fintech firms, most notably the Barclays Accelerator powered by Techstars, in which he was voted one of the best mentors in 2018, and UK’s Tech Nation focusing on RegTech and LegalTech firms and was an advisor to the Board of a well-known UK financial services trade association. Willem holds a LLB Law (Hons) degree from the University of Westminster and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2004.
