Description

Over a decade ago, the City of Philadelphia enacted two policy initiatives that would jumpstart the city’s path to decarbonization – its Municipal LEED Ordinance and the Philadelphia Energy Benchmarking Program. In the time since, Philadelphia, and many other entities both in the public and private sectors, have committed to ambitious climate and energy goals including carbon-neutrality by the year 2050. To meet these goals, the need for accelerated progress toward reducing carbon emissions has grown increasingly urgent and so too has the need to evolve and build upon local actions. This session will provide the lessons learned and results from a decade-long implementation period, which forms the foundation for Philadelphia’s strategy moving forward.
