Bill Belichick adage of everybody needs to

is a way to oversimplify the work
side of in the work side of the coin,

but on the other side, it's really
understanding what motivates people

understanding as a team what goals
you want to accomplish, and then you

need to celebrate those wins together,
and make sure you never lose alone.

Fostering a strong sense of team is
especially challenging in an early

stage startup, where there's so many
things going on from a technical or

operational standpoint, that it's
sometimes challenging to zoom out and

think about the culture or the environment
that this is all playing out in.

This was especially challenging for a
startup that launched in November of 2020,

right in the middle of some of the worst
of the COVID pandemic related shutdowns.

And on top of that, we have a team that
is distributed across all 50 states,

so we don't often get chances to get
together, even still, unfortunately.

So culture flows from the top down,
making sure that leadership maintains

in as much as possible a digitally open
door and that they hear and are receptive

to all members of the organization.

We actively take time to try
to learn things about members

of our organization out there.

{{00:01:34}}
Inside of their work lives, so we
actually understand them as people,

as deeper, three dimensional people
beyond just faces on screen sometimes.

And then when we can, we really do try
to get together, be it at conferences

like Finovate or anywhere else around
the country, we try to use those as

{{00:01:50}}
reasons to draw our teams together.

Either in, in part or in whole.

So the whole company can really look
around at each other and recognize that

there are people out there all across
the country pulling for the shared aim.

But our entire staff everywhere, even
if you don't see them, even if you

don't feel them every single day, and
you're not in the office together, that

everybody's still out there pulling for
that same final common goal and supporting

the community of doctors around us.

Most people in most
businesses work very hard.

I think the reason they do that
other than the normal things is

the conviction they have behind the
business and do they actually believe

So that's, really important because
then it's not a, it's not a job.

It's an outcome that you're
trying to achieve as a team.

I think that's number one.

Number two is the team gels together.

Not having 20, 30 individuals, but
actually having a number of smaller teams

and one bigger team working together
towards the outcome is a big factor

that, alleviates that, burnout feeling
and that, and reduces the stress cause

you're all in it together as a team.

And I think the third thing is really
important to celebrate celebrate

take the small, medium, large, extra
large wins and, it's really important

to celebrate as often as you can.
