Alexandra Brown is a Clinical Pharmacist at Northern Health who established the pharmacist role within the state wide Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED) service. Alexandra supported the development of an Early Treatment service within the VVED, focusing on providing COVID antiviral treatments to the most vulnerable patients in the community. She created a patient triaging tool to facilitate clinical decision making, and led a team of pharmacists and clinicians to support effective clinical review and timely access to antiviral treatment despite geographical diversity. She led multiple research pieces during her time in VVED, focusing on consumer feedback and multidisciplinary models of care to prevent medication errors. Alexandra supported the roll out of electronic prescribing across the VVED service and other areas of Northern Health and led the development of multiple governance processes surrounding safe medication management in the virtual space.
