    Brigadier Douglas Laidlaw, AM, CSC is Head Joint Support Services Division, which provides a range of capabilities and support services in the Australian Defence Force. As an Army Reserve officer he has operational service in East Timor and led the response to a number of significant natural disasters in Australia and overseas. He was appointed Member in the Order of Australia in 2021 for exceptional service as Commander of Melbourne-based 4th Brigade and Commander Joint Task Force 646 during Operation Bushfire Assist. In 2006 he was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross for outstanding leadership of a Rifle Company Butterworth contingent and support to Operation Sumatra Assist following the tsunami in Indonesia. He has law and commerce degrees and is a barrister practising at the Victorian Bar.
