    ames Withers has been Deputy Director in the Investment Security Unit for the last three years, in Cabinet Office and previously at the Department for Business. This period included the commencement of the National Security and Investment Act (2021) and the creation of the ISU. He is responsible for assessment of transactions called in by the Deputy Prime Minister and the development of remedies through final orders. In almost 20 years as a civil servant he has worked in a range of business, science and technology, and national security-focused roles.
