Description

In an era of growing climate risks, evolving regulations, and a market downcycle, the real estate industry faces multifaceted challenges. Experience a dynamic session at Greenbuild 2024 where industry leaders from Greystar, RMR, Verdani Partners, and Fulya Kocak will deliver rapid-fire presentations packed with practical solutions and insights for real estate professionals. Climate mitigation and adaptation remains a forefront driver of regulatory compliance, and our discussion will emphasize the importance of reducing carbon footprints in alignment with the latest regulatory requirements to achieve global carbon reduction targets. Concurrently, we will provide clarity on the current and upcoming SEC regulations, California Regulations and building performance standards, sharing our implementation strategies to navigate the regulatory landscape during challenging market conditions. The discussion will also highlight the importance of integrating holistic climate solutions and ESG strategies, not only for regulatory compliance but also for navigating market uncertainties. By exchanging insights and adopting a collaborative approach, we aim to collectively tackle sustainability challenges, ensuring the resilience of our real estate assets. In this context, ESG emerges as a key business strategy. It attracts more business, helps in finding and retaining top talent, fosters transparency, and, most importantly, reduces risk. As industry studies show, assets with elevated sustainability performance demonstrate rent premiums, increased capital value, higher occupancy rates, lower operating expenses, and higher asset value. Moreover, ESG is a critical risk mitigation strategy. Anticipating the future, we understand that a decarbonized, resilient building will be more valuable and less prone to devaluation or obsolescence. Embracing ESG principles is not merely a reflection of past trends but a proactive approach to secure assets in a changing landscape. The presentation will end with successful implementation case studies showcasing strategies that these real estate portfolios are implementing to future proof their portfolios.
