About the speakers
- Roger McClendonExecutive Director at Green Sports AllianceRoger McClendon is the Executive Director of the Green Sports Alliance. He leads international sports and stadium executives, as well as sustainability experts, to use sports to promote healthy, sustainability communities globally. Roger was the first-ever Chief Sustainability Officer for Yum! Brands: Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and KFC restaurants. He also led the development of Blueline, a sustainable design guide for restaurants built on the LEED certification program. Blueline was a global standard implemented in approximately 5,000 Yum! Brand restaurants globally. Yum! recognized by Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 2017, 2018 & the 100 Best Corporate Citizens by Corporate Responsibility Magazine. Roger was a McDonald’s All-American in 1984, one of the top 25 high school basketball players in the nation and closed his University of Cincinnati men’s basketball career as the No. 2 scorer, second to Oscar Robertson. Roger holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from University of Cincinnati.
- Brianna TreatDirector of Sustainability at Climate Pledge Arena/Seattle KrakenBrianna Treat is a life-long sustainability advocate with a decades spanning career focusing in large scale waste reduction projects, corporate ESG reporting (Environmental, Social, Governance), green building certifications/implementations and carbon accounting. As Director of Sustainability for the Climate Pledge Arena & the Seattle Kraken, Brianna Treat has embedded environmental sustainability across both organizations. She has developed and implemented a multitude of sustainability initiatives onsite, tracking all operational carbon at the Arena and assisting in achieving the Arenas 95% waste diversion goal. Each piece of her past has built her skillset to now ensure that the Climate Pledge Arena and the Seattle Kraken maintain their commitments to the Climate Pledge.
- E.V. BennettAssociate Director of Sustainability Consulting Services at Ecoworks Studio LLCE.V. Bennett has nearly two decades of experience in commercial construction, with significant expertise in sustainable design and construction project management. E.V. is highly regarded for her track record in establishing sustainability programs for nationally recognized firms and implementing forward-thinking efforts on various projects that have achieved a variety of green building certifications. These certifications include the first TRUE for Zero Waste certifications for an NBA Playoff Game, Professional Sports Arena, Precertified Sports Venue, and Professional Sports Stadium in the world. E.V. has been an active member of the USGBC Georgia and Alabama chapters. As the Associate Director of Sustainability Consulting Services at Ecoworks Studio, she collaborates with team members to exceed clients' expectations while ensuring projects meet and exceed their sustainability objectives. In 2021, E.V.'s commitment to sustainability and community involvement earned her recognition as a LEED Fellow. E.V. holds Bachelors of Science degrees in Design (Architecture) and Construction Science and Management from Clemson University.
- Dawn BrownSr. Manager Stadium Tours, Education Programs & Sustainability at AMBSE / Mercedes-Benz StadiumDawn Brown is the Sr. Manager of Stadium Tours, Education Programs + Sustainability at LEED & TRUE Platinum Certified, Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Dawn joined AMB Sports and Entertainment in 2017 following a 9-year career in construction with CD Moody/Holder Construction. A California native, she relocated to Atlanta in 2005 to complete her degree in Education at Georgia State University. At Mercedes-Benz Stadium, she specializes in STEAM Educational Tours and providing unique experiences through private and group events. She also manages the Green Team Education programing and initiatives with other AMB associates. As part of her role, Mercedes-Benz Stadium is used as a non-traditional classroom for over 20k studetns annually. In 2013, after starting the Mercedes-Benz Stadium Project, Dawn refocused her goals for environmental stewardship through advocacy and volunteerism. She currently sits on the Leadership Board for MBS Green Team + MBS Urban Garden Manager, Oversees Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Resilience - Sustainability Ambassadors, Chair – John A. White Park, Board Member - Grant Park Conservancy, Trees Atlanta Volunteer, Soil Advocate, and all-around environmentalist.
