Sarah MichaelSarah MichaelDirector of Psychological Wellbeing, MDOK Program at Sydney Local Health District

Dr Sarah Michael is a Senior Staff Specialist Psychiatrist, working at St Vincent’s Hospital and at Sydney LHD with the MDOK Program, and Conjoint Senior Lecturer at UNSW. Sarah has been in a range of medical education and leadership positions, winning the 2017 Geoff Marrel Award for Medical Educator of the Year, and several UNSW Teaching Awards. She has completed a Masters of Health Management and Public Health, and spent time working at the World Health Organisation on the Mental Health Gap Action Plan, a global initiative to scale up mental health treatment. She has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals for mental health and medical education initiatives. In 2019 Sarah won the UN Women’s scholarship to complete an Executive MBA at University of Sydney, and currently sits on the board of BMILES, a specialist homelessness service for women experiencing mental illness. Since commencing as Director of Psychological Wellbeing at Sydney LHD in 2022, she has launched Colleague Care, the first NSW hospital-based staff peer-support program
