Description

Pre-covid data is "irrelevant" now. Could data researchers be able to make forecasts about what the future brings? Susan Sumida and Amelia Eddleman reflect on how we think about data in the pre and post-pandemic environment.

Introduction
Chapter 1: Amelia Eddleman
Researchers analyse a huge amount of data, some of which help them to clearly see certain trends. Yet much of the data can't be used as a forecast. Being able to see what is happening now does not mean researchers know what is going to happen next. Although, they can certainly generate hypotheses.
Chapter 2: Susan Sumida
Pre-covid data is "irrelevant" now and is used as a benchmark for "normal" levels. So the surveys and data show how close we are getting back to that "normal" or not. During Covid, questions like, "How to get a job" and "What new skills are needed to change a job" became more popular. Therefore, how to feed information to those product teams became essential.
