    Wim van der Beek is founder and managing partner of Goodwell Investments, a pioneering investment firm focused on financial inclusion, fintech and inclusive growth in sectors providing basic goods and services and income generation opportunities to the underserved. Since 2006 Goodwell has raised 5 funds with over $ 100 mln in capital. Goodwell has invested equity in early stage businesses in financial services and technology companies in India and Africa, ranging from classical microfinance to mobile payments, rural banking, affordable housing finance to merchant payment networks and public transport technology. Goodwell’s 25 portfolio companies have reached over 12 million households with more than USD 1.7 billion in financial products and services, and employ more than 30,000 employees. African portfolio companies in the fintech field include Paga (Nigeria), Nomanini (South Africa) and Musoni Systems (pan-African), and in mobility tech WhereIsMyTransport (pan-African). Goodwell has recently launched a new EUR 100m fund for Sub Sahara Africa that will invest in financial inclusion, agribusiness and other inclusive growth sectors with a heavy focus on the digital economy. The firm is realizing top quartile investment returns and making a significant impact, demonstrating that it is possible to be commercially successful while having an impact at the same time. Goodwell manages its funds with teams on the ground that have become local leaders in the impact investment sector - in India (Aavishkaar), Nigeria (Alitheia), Ghana (JCS), Kenya (Voxtra) and South Africa (Goodwell South Africa). Goodwell has a unique mix of investors: pioneering impact investors, entrepreneurs, foundations and family offices, as well as development finance institutions, funds-of-funds, banks, pension funds and other institutional investors. Wim is a private equity investor with 25+ years of experience in financial structuring, investment funds, venture capital and private equity investments. He is based in South Africa to build Goodwell’s local member firm. He is a former PWC partner and co-founder of an institutional investment fintech company.

    Raphael (Ralph) Akomeah is the Program Manager for IDP Foundation, Inc., where he is responsible for managing and overseeing the implementation of all the Foundation’s programs and related partnerships. Ralph has over 14 years of experience managing the IDP Rising Schools Program (IDPRSP) – a program designed to drive growth and development of existing low-cost private schools using a unique microfinance model designed to efficiently deliver financial and capacity building services to Low Fee Private Schools. Ralph has extensive experience in the financial services industry and has worked in multiple African countries. For four years, he consulted for CapitalPlus Exchange as an Education Finance Expert, where he works on developing capacity building tool kits and providing Technical Assistance to Financial Institutions on SME and School Financing, specifically in the areas of product and service development, delivery, monitoring, and reporting. Ralph has also recently led IDP Foundation into a blended finance partnership with Premier Credit Limited – a credit only microfinance company in Kenya – to provide financial support to APBET schools. Ralph holds a bachelor’s degree (BSc.) in Banking and Finance and a master’s degree (MSc.) in Financial Management, as well as multiple Certifications in Project Management.

    Magdi M. Amin is the Managing Partner of African Renaissance Partners, which backs early-stage ventures that use technology to solve development challenges such as access to finance, renewable energy, logistics, healthcare, and agricultural productivity in East Africa and the Horn. Prior to co-founding African Renaissance, Magdi was Senior Advisor to the Minister of Finance in the Transitional Government of Sudan 2000 to October 2021, where he supported economic reforms to stabilize the economy, regain access to multilateral finance, restructure Sudan’s external debt, and reform the financial sector. magdi spent two decades with the World Bank and IFC, based in Bangkok, Addis Ababa, and Cairo in senior roles focused on private sector development, economics, and corporate strategy. Magdi was Managing Director at Omidyar Network within the Responsible Technology practice. Magdi is an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins SAIS, teaching Responsible Digital Development, is on the Investment Committee of Co-Develop, which finances digital public infrastructure, and the Advisory Board of TIMEP. Magdi holds degrees from Princeton and Johns Hopkins.

Her expertise lies across the investment lifecycle from materiality analysis, ESG due diligence, impact assessment, portfolio monitoring and overall value-creation. Zinhle is dedicated to advancing sustainable business practices and has a track record of driving ESG integration within the financial sector. She also has strong technical experience in climate change, corporate governance, management systems, diversity equity and inclusion. With a mission to create positive change in the financial industry, Zinhle’s sectors of expertise including technology (AgriTech, Fintec, HealthTech), manufacturing, telecommunication, consumer and services sectors and agribusinesses.
