Description

Healthcare workers across the different islands of the Philippines have experienced various forms of stigmatization during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. From physical assault, banishment of local authorities, forced eviction from their homes, denial of use of public transport, denial of entry to stores and public spaces, cyberbullying and online attacks. This has prompted healthcare leadership to prioritize the safety and well-being of the workforce. This presentation aims to unravel the threads and weave the struggles and hardships experienced first-hand by the Filipino healthcare workforce, and how their respective healthcare leaders and institutions addressed the situation. This qualitative multiple case study was participated by selected hospitals and healthcare workers across the Philippines and utilized thematic analysis as its method of data analysis.
