Kara Oldhouser is the Director of Sustainability at Amtrak, America’s Intercity Passenger Railroad. With a start in interior design, her fifteen+ years of professional experience in sustainability positioned her well to tackle Amtrak's diverse opportunities of adapting a centuries old mode of transportation toward a resilient new era of rail. Her superpower of endless curiosity and a disarming smile help her collaborate on cross-departmental teams to advance the company's Net Zero goals and integrate climate considerations into design standards, policies, strategic planning, and project prioritization.
