I think the role of the Chief Wellness
Officer,  why it's not found commonly

in most industries is because a lot
of companies still are, I would say,

struggling with the wellbeing aspect.

So, a lot of them are still wondering
what it is, and what needs to be done,

and they still think it's a HR role.

It's still gaining popularity.

It's been out there since probably
2009, where one of the organisations,

I think, can't remember who they
are now, talked about it, they

wrote an article  about the CWO.

And, like I said, it
is gaining popularity.

A lot of organisations are
understanding  the need for the Chief

Wellness Officer to come in and support
HR in delivering wellbeing strategies.

With HR, they can speak to
wellbeing, but not fully, right?

Having the Chief Wellness Officer
there to support them on building that

wellbeing strategy is key because they
can speak to leverage and open the

doors with the leaders and the C-suite
leaders on that conversation on why

it is important to take care of the
wellbeing of the organisation, of the

employees within that organisation.

So they're two different roles, but
they have to support each other because

they're coming in different angles.

The one thing that worries me most
within organisations around the world

is increasing levels of burnout.

That is  at a worrying level right now.

Some people know that they're heading
there and,  in fact, very few people

identify the signs of burnout, right?

Especially organisations and
especially for the leaders as well.

Leaders in organisations through
the pandemic had to step up

a thousand percent to make
sure that their employees are

okay, but who looks after them?

I find that, maybe this is a
phrase out there already, but

I call it post-pandemic PTSD.

I think a lot of leaders,
and individuals as well,

are  in that space.

So that is the worrying aspect for
me, and the fact that there's some

organisations not recognising it.

There isn't enough budget assigned
to looking after  individuals,

or, you know, putting towards
wellbeing within organisations

to support the individuals.

So that is worrying.

And I'm hoping that
it's going to change.

There is a change that's happening,
but I'm hoping the change is going

to get quicker and more companies
allocate more budget to wellbeing.

The thing I love most about my job is
supporting and helping organisations,

and individuals, in building- reaching
their wellbeing goals and building

that wellbeing strategy and watching,
seeing the transformation from where

they were, to what- making the change
and the changes that actually occur.

And when it does actually come to
individuals as well, you see the

transformation in them from what
they used to be, stressed out, burnt

out, or whatever situation you meet
them at, because you always meet

people where they're at, and take
them on a journey, transforming

them to people that actually enjoy
their lives, feel less stressed.

Nobody can feel completely stress free.

There's always different
levels of stress.

And also, where organisations are
concerned, getting them to that

point where there's a difference
in the employees, and the leaders

can see it and they're all coming
together and working together.

You know, that transformation
side of things is the joy.

I used to be corporate
fully in the IT sector.

I was an IT consultant in the
finance sector in London, and then

got diagnosed with breast cancer,
had to leave, so I understand

{{00:05:43}}
the pressure because once you're
female in a male-dominated

{{00:05:47}}
environment, it's mega pressure,
because you have to deliver, right?

And also being a consultant.

{{00:05:57}}
So the pressure was there.

{{00:05:58}}
So I understand that.

And my mission for going back into
the corporate, having changed my life

completely 180, from IT to health
and wellness, my mission is to help

people prevent getting to the point
I got to of a diagnosis, right?

Prevent disease.

So that has been and will
always be my mission.
