"Associate Professor Vinay Lakra is the President of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). He is also a Board Director of the Council of Presidents of Medical Colleges and a Board member of the Victorian Board of Medical Board of Australia. He is also the Divisional Director of Mental Health Services at Northern Health, Melbourne. Assoc Prof Lakra previously worked as the Deputy Chief Psychiatrist of Victoria for a period of three years during which he worked to strengthen the safety and quality of service delivery in public mental health services across Victoria. He also worked as Clinical Director at North Western Mental Health of the Royal Melbourne Hospital for more than 10 years. His interest and expertise includes leadership and management, clinical governance systems; and patient safety and quality. He has extensive experience in development and operation of changes to assessment and training of specialist international medical graduates for RANZCP. He also remains actively engaged in supervision and mentoring of medical staff. He graduated in medicine from JN Medical College, India in 1999 and then completed MD in psychiatry from Central Institute of Psychiatry, India in 2002. He is also a Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators, has a Masters of Health Management from University of New South Wales and is a Graduate of Australian Institute of Company Directors."
