The NEM or the National Electricity
Market is the largest manmade

machine in the southern hemisphere.

It stretches all the way from Port
Lincoln and South Australia, up to Port

Douglas at the top of Queensland and
Tasmania to all of the Eastern states

and it supplies around 10 million
customers with electricity through those

poles and wires and trades around over
$10 billion of electricity every year.

So YES Group has developed and built
over 100 ground mount solar farms,

solar and storage projects in the NEM.

Last year we commissioned three very
unique ones, which were pV best hybrid

or solar and battery hybrid projects,
storing and generating electricity

behind the same connection point.

So distribution level development
connects solar and storage projects

to the distribution network as
opposed to the transmission network.

And as studies have shown, there's
quite a lot of room available on

the distribution network, which has
been built for peak demand times.

Meaning those very few times of the
year when the network's at capacity.

For the rest of the time, there's a lot
of space in that network to accommodate

new solar and storage projects.

Probably one of the greatest challenges
at distribution level development

is that it wasn't really built to
accommodate distributed generation.

A lot of the sites that seem viable for
solar farms are either unavailable from

a land use point of view, the community
and landowners don't wanna see solar

farms too close to where they live.

It might be too valuable.

In other words, the land use just doesn't
stack up from developing a new project.

Or if it is the perfect site,
quite often it can be too stringy.

So in other words, the
network can't accommodate that

generation at that location.

So YES group has overcome those
challenges by carefully selecting

the right substations and feeders to
approach that can accommodate generation.

And carpet bombing those sites,
tipping all of the available

sites into a big funnel and seeing
which ones come out the bottom.

renewable energy future because it allows

meaning we don't have to build too much

Because the sun isn't always shining.

like to see is networks and customers

And therefore that can lead to a
waste of resources and capital.

If networks and customers could
work together to provide shared

information about certain parts of
the development, it could allow for a

more efficient deployment of project
developer's capital and their time.
