Known for her reputation as a changemaker, agile marketer and leader in the digital transformation of green building practices, The Global Network for Zero Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer and Rubix Chief Marketing Officer Sarah Merricks has not only a storied career in sustainability, but a lifetime of climate consciousness. The daughter of two environmental lawyers, Sarah served more than nine years as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Green Building Council. Before co-founding the Global Network for Zero and its partnership with Rubix, Sarah also worked at a clean energy think tank, conducted research for an environmental law firm and interned for the U.S. House of Representatives Select Committee on Energy Independence & Global Warming.

Laurie joined the EcoAct UK business advisory team in 2015 and leads on carbon reduction and decarbonisation strategy. He has overseen the submission of over 35 SBTi accredited targets and taken a leading role in the development of EcoAct’s proprietary CRaFT (Carbon Reduction and Feasibility Tool) software. Focusing on private sector strategy, he has worked with various international organisations, across multiple sectors (e.g., hospitality, FMCG, energy and industrial companies) to help them to define, manage and implement strategies for emissions reduction across the value chain.

Laurie has a First-Class Honours degree (MSci) in Physical Geography from Durham University, specialising in climatic change implications and catastrophe risk analysis.

Emma WatsonEmma WatsonHead of Standards at Science Based Targets Initiative

Emma is responsible for the Science Based Targets initiative’s Standards Team. The Standards Team develops and maintains SBTi's cross-sector standards, which includes near-term science-based targets, the Corporate Net-Zero Standard, and the emerging Net-Zero for Financial Institutions and Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV) Standards. Emma led the development of the Corporate Net-Zero Standard - the first standard for setting corporate net-zero targets in line with climate science.

Prior to joining the SBTi, Emma was the lead for science-based targets at Accenture’s Carbon Intelligence – a service which she developed and brought to market.

Emma is a member of the Race to Zero Expert Peer Review Group, an advisor to the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero and sits on the Standards Committee for the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative. She has an MSc in Carbon Management and BSc with Honours in Environmental Science, both from the University of Edinburgh, and is based in London.
