Ruanne is a lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience in health law. Ruanne currently works as a senior legal advisor in Avant’s Advocacy, Education and Research team. She creates and delivers medico legal education for members and doctors, and researches and contributes to submissions and other material as part of Avant’s advocacy and education strategies. Ruanne also regularly writes for internal and external organisations and publications, and is on the editorial panel of the Australian Health Law Bulletin.

Dr Katie Dimarco is a Psychiatrist working in private practice in Sydney. She obtained her Fellowship with the College of Psychiatrists in 2012, and has an RANZCP Advanced Training Certificate in Psychotherapies. Her current practice is a mix of general adult psychiatry, psychotherapy, and medicolegal reports. She also has a psychiatry consultancy that provides advisory services for the life insurance sector.

Dr Buckland is a consultant specialist in plastic, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgery, with extensive experience in all aspects of the specialty. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a member of the Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS).

Dr Buckland graduated from the University of Newcastle in 1987, with First Class Honours and the University Medal. He initially trained at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick and obtained his FRACS in General Surgery. He then undertook further post-fellowship training in the subspecialty of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, obtaining his second FRACS. The FRACS is recognised as the highest level of surgical training within Australia and, in 1999, the NSW Health Commissioner Inquiry into Cosmetic Surgery upheld the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as the benchmark for surgical certification.

Dr Buckland specialises in Reconstructive , Cosmetic and Revisional Breast surgery.

He is passionate about surgical education , multidisciplinary care optimising patient experiences both pre and post operatively.

Patrick TansleyPatrick TansleyImmediate Past-President at Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery and Medicine

Mr Patrick Tansley MD FRCS (Plast) holds UK registration as a Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and practises aesthetic plastic and revisional surgery in Melbourne and Brisbane under general registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA. A former Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England with a Master of Science in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery degree (Distinction), he has published more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and is Immediate Past-President of the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery and Medicine. He is committed to training, credentialing and recertification in cosmetic surgery.

Rebecca WonRebecca WonSpecialist Plastic Surgeon at Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons Executive Council

r Rebecca Won (B. Med. FRACS (Plast.) PFET (Hand Surgery) is a Specialist Plastic Surgeon based in Brisbane. She is a VMO at Royal Brisbane & Women’s Hospital and has run a private reconstructive and cosmetic surgical practice since 2016. Her plastic surgical training was completed in tertiary hospitals in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Dr Won is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland Medical School, she regularly teaches medical students, junior doctors, pre-vocational surgical applicants, and Emergency Medicine trainees. She is a supervisor of Plastic Surgical Trainees via the ASPS SET Training Program.

Dr Won has been Chair of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Younger Fellows Committee, Chair of the Queensland Chapter of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), and most recently was appointed at Executive Council Member at ASPS. She has experience on Medical Advisory Committees of two different private hospitals, and also on a Medicare Review Committee for recent MBS item number changes.

Dr Won was recently invited to present before Queensland Parliament to discuss the Heath Practitioner Regulation National Law (Surgeons) Amendment Bill 2023. She is a passionate advocate of patient safety.
