Justine is Senior Solicitor in the Health Law team at the NSW Crown Solicitor's Office.

Her previous experience working in pathology laboratories and private hospitals together with her experience in private practice litigation with varied matters including: gynaecological and obstetric, wrongful birth claims, surgical and medical complications, failure to diagnose and delayed diagnosis cases, coronial inquires, compensation to relatives claims and mental harm claims has armed her with a unique set of skills to assist in problem solving complex medicolegal issues.

Justine is also the President of the Women Lawyers Association of NSW. An association which advocates for women and women lawyers on a number of different issues including pay parity, flexible work, abolition of sexual harassment within the work place, issues of diversity and intersectionality felt by women and women lawyers.

Ruanne is a lawyer with more than 20 years’ experience in health law. Ruanne currently works as a senior legal advisor in Avant’s Advocacy, Education and Research team. She creates and delivers medico legal education for members and doctors, and researches and contributes to submissions and other material as part of Avant’s advocacy and education strategies. Ruanne also regularly writes for internal and external organisations and publications, and is on the editorial panel of the Australian Health Law Bulletin.
