    Ignacio Hernandez
Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific at HIF Global
Ignacio is CEO of HIF Asia Pacific, leading HIF Global´s activities in Australia and Asia. Ignacio was previously CFO of AME, HIF’s largest shareholder. Before joining HIF, he spent over 18 years as an investment banker in Australia and Chile with a focus on the infrastructure, energy and private equity sectors. HIF Global produces eFuel using green hydrogen and recycled CO2 for use in aircraft, car, truck and aeroplane engines without any modification required. Our Haru Oni project in southern Chile entered production in 2022, becoming the world’s first fully-integrated eFuel plant and sparking unprecedented interest from offtakers of ePetrol and eSAF, as well as eMethanol for shipping. This breakthrough demonstrates eFuel’s ability as a drop-in fuel to support rapid decarbonisation of the global transport sector. HIF’s 1.8GW Matagorda project in Texas is due to enter construction in 2024 and further projects are underway in Chile, Uruguay and the US. Australia’s enormous potential for renewables and proximity to Asian markets makes it a prime candidate for eFuel production. HIF Tasmania was announced in July 2022 and is anticipated to produce 100 million litres of eFuel per annum from 2028. HIF has a pipeline of additional projects in development around Australia.
