    Vibhuti Jain joined U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) as Regional Managing Director for Africa in January 2020. As part of DFC’s focus on low-income and lower middle-income countries and increasing its development impact, Ms. Jain leads the agency’s on-the-ground presence in Africa from its regional office in Johannesburg, South Africa. Prior to joining DFC, Ms. Jain was based in Pretoria, South Africa, where she led the project finance team of Power Africa, a U.S. Government energy generation and access program coordinated by USAID. In addition to her public sector work, Ms. Jain is an experienced corporate attorney, representing Fortune 100 companies in the financial services sector, and practicing law in New York and London. She also worked for a boutique investment banking firm in New York on transportation, energy, and other infrastructure transactions. Ms. Jain holds a B.A. in Economics from Yale University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Ahmed has over 20 years of experience in private equity and credit with a sector focus on consumer goods and services, healthcare, and education. Ahmed led over $750m of investments in North Africa over more than a decade, with realizations exceeding $1.2bn to date. Ahmed is also the chairman of Cleopatra Hospitals Group, Egypt’s largest healthcare provider listed on the Egyptian Stock Exchange. Ahmed graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the American University in Cairo and holds an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management.

Before joining Swedfund in 2022, Sofia worked for more than 20 years with strategic, transactional and M&A advisory at KPMG and Bain & Company, advising private equity, corporate and public clients. Sofia has a MSc in Management and Industrial Engineering from The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.

Ascent has advisory offices Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya and Mauritius. Prior to founding Ascent, Lucas spent 12 years in senior roles with Nokia in China, Latin America and Africa, most recently as General Manager, East Africa. Lucas has spent 20 years in Africa and has been a resident of Ethiopia and Uganda and is currently a resident of Kenya. Lucas holds a law degree from the University of Helsinki and an MBA from INSEAD.
