Hospital care is.

Sensational in Australia,

the private system.

But hospital care

involves a lot of risk.

Whether it's a risk of

infection, whether it's a

risk of anesthetic, whether

it's a risk from surgery,

anything we can do to help

need in their own environment

will generally be better.

Now hospitals are

not going away.

We know there's gonna be a

lot of need for good hospital

but we need to be able to

substitute out better care

where it's available and also

importantly, avoid hospital

at at if at all possible.

Our health system is based

on the legacy of the past.

And unfortunately, the

financial levers drive

healthcare a lot more than

lot for best practice care

to come into place in spite

of a health funding system.

So we need to be looking at

models of care, which actually

bring people together and look

at teams based approaches.

But also look at the

pe, look at the people

who need the care in the

context in which they live.

The right care for me might

be different to the right

care for a 70 year old woman

or a three year old child.

So it's really important

to look at the context of

what people are trying to

achieve out of healthcare

that bring in, bring the

various strands together.

We need to bring in

private care a lot more.

We need to make sure

that public systems.

Evolve and that private

systems can add in the

care that's needed.

Health funds need to

be much more involved.

We have a wealth of

information which will help

health practitioners provide

the care they need to the

patients that they serve.

Our job as health funds is

not only just to pay for

care, but also to give the

practitioners making the

decisions good information.

An informed decision

is always better than

an uninformed decision.

We have data and we

have systems which can

help practitioners.

Yet we've got this artificial

divide where private health

insurance is seen as something

over there, and if we're

able to integrate private

health insurance funds.

Desire to help people

The data we hold
