Ann has previously served as the head of Emerging Markets Research in Europe for both Citi and Nomura. Ann is also a contributor to Oxford Analytica, an Advisor for Gatehouse Advisory Partners, and a founding board member of the US government-funded Tunisian American Enterprise Fund supporting Tunisian SMEs. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and obtained her Masters degree at Colombia University’s School of International and Public Affairs.

    Shafeeq Abrahams is the Chief Executive and Principal Officer of the Eskom Pension and Provident Fund, a defined benefit fund serving approximately 80,000 members with Assets Under Management of approximately R190 billion. The Eskom Pension and Provident Fund is regulated by the Financial Services Conduct Authority and is invested in a diversified set of asset classes which includes both listed and unlisted investments within domestic, African and global markets. Shafeeq is a non-executive director of Batseta Council of Retirement Funds in South Africa and serves on the advisory boards of the World Pension Summit and AssetTV. Shafeeq is a qualified Chartered Accountant by profession.

    Emre is responsible for sourcing, diligencing, proposing and monitoring investments, particularly in private equity. Over the last 13 years, he has worked in the private equity and investment banking, with a focus on impact investing. Before joining Sarona in 2018, Emre led fundraising and deal sourcing efforts for Fidesa Ventures, a private impact investing fund, has served as a fund of funds investor at the European Investment Bank and as an M&A advisor at Dexia in Istanbul. Emre holds an MBA in Corporate Finance from La Salle University, Philadelphia.

    Nicholas Vickery
    Global Head, Private Equity Funds at IFC
    Nicholas Vickery is IFC’s Global Head of Private Equity Funds, based in Istanbul, Turkiye. Nicholas focuses on IFC’s investments in Private Equity and Venture Capital Funds with an annual investment program of around $600m in 20-25 funds, and chairs the Funds Investment Committee (IC), which screens all of IFC’s investment proposals in private equity funds. He was previously the Global Portfolio Manager of Private Equity Funds, with a portfolio responsibility for IFC’s investments in 270 funds for a total exposure of around US$4 billion, across all regions. His portfolio included growth equity, venture capital, climate change and SME funds. Prior to this, Nicholas was an investment officer in IFC’s Financial Institutions Group, and was based in Istanbul from 2010-2015. He also headed the IFC Mumbai office from 2003-2005, where he was responsible for business development in the financial sector in South Asia. He joined IFC in 1998 as part of the MBA Program. Nicholas holds a Masters from ESSEC Business School, France and a MBA from INSEAD.
