Justin James.Justin James.Chief Executive Officer at HIF Australia

Justin James joined HIF in mid 2020, bringing with him a wealth of experience in senior executive positions across Health Insurance and Financial Services, most recently with Private Health Insurer Bupa. In his eight years as Director of Customer Growth and Director of Risk & Conduct with Bupa, Justin pioneered an ethical approach to performance and remuneration. Before moving into the Private Health Insurance industry, Justin held several senior executive and leadership roles in the Financial Services sector, including at the National Australia Bank, Commonwealth Bank and ANZ Bank. On his arrival at HIF Justin set about renewing confidence across the HIF community and improving the value HIF members receive from their cover with a keen focus on access and choice. Justin and HIF are keen supporters into studies relating to the health benefits of medicinal cannabis and other emerging therapies targeting mental health treatments. In addition to being CEO of HIF, Justin is Chair of Allevia, an NDIS services provider and a NED with the AMA (WA).

Greg MorrisGreg MorrisChief Financial Officer & GM Health Insurance at AIA Health Insurance

With a background in Actuarial Science, Greg is the Chief Financial Officer and General Manager of AIA Health Australia – a global health and life insurer structured around the shared-value model where members, the business and broader society all benefit from a healthier population. Greg has worked in the insurance industry for just under two decades, specialising in international business development and insurance product innovation. During his time with AIA, Greg has helped launched new insurance plans and products in all AIA markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea – and more recently, here in Australia and New Zealand.
In his downtime, you’ll find Greg reading or enjoying a walk or cycle outdoors. Greg is also passionate about skills development in the youth and dedicates much of his spare time to tutoring refugee children in maths and science. Having relocated to Australia in February 2020 (just ahead of COVID lockdowns), Greg is now enjoying the post-COVID life exploring Sydney with his family – and dog, Nando.

Mark FitzgibbonMark FitzgibbonCEO & Managing Director at nib Group

MBA (University of Technology Sydney), MA (Macquarie University), ALCA (Charles Sturt University), FAICD Mark joined nib in October 2002 as Chief Executive Officer. In 2007 as Managing Director, he led nib through its demutualisation and subsequent listing on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). nib later joined the S&P/ASX 100, among Australia’s largest and best-known companies. Mark has held executive positions at a number of Australian organisations, including local government and peak industry bodies.
Leading nib, Mark has transformed the business from a regionally based (Newcastle, NSW) private health insurer into one of Australia’s fastest growing and innovative healthcare companies with adjacent businesses in New Zealand, travel, inbound international students and workers, and a growing interest in Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) sector. Mark’s strategic focus has been to build and diversify nib’s business and with that, earnings. nib has grown significantly in recent years, organically and inorganically, in existing and new markets.

Christine YatesChristine YatesCEO - Retail at Australian Unity Limited

Chris Yates leads Australian Unity’s Retail Platform, a specialised business unit which brings together the Health Insurance and Banking businesses that focus on Australian Unity’s retail customers and members. Chris joined Australian Unity in August 2020 after a decade at National Australia Bank, where her last role was Chief Customer Officer for Private, Wealth and Insurance at NAB’s subsidiary, the Bank of New Zealand.

Chris is a highly experienced executive with over 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry including retail banking, wealth management and insurance. Chris anchors her strategic thinking constantly on deeply understanding customers, suitable products and services and fair value; all critical for a sustainable business platform. She is a visionary leader who believes in the importance of creating an environment where her team aligns deeply on strategy and leverages their own capability and that of partners to constantly improve the design and delivery of products and services to customers. Working for one of Australia’s oldest wellbeing organisations gives her a broad lens into society, as the Australian Unity group traverses aged care, allied health services (like Remedy), wealth management investments and services as well as social infrastructure developments, like Brisbane’s Herston Quarter and STARS (the Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Services building).

Chris holds a Bachelor of Economics, a Master of Human Resource Management and is currently completing her Doctoral Business Administration. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia & New Zealand. Chris is a Director on the Australian Unity Bank Limited Board and Australian Unity Health Limited Board.
