Description

Over the past several decades, LEED, the AIA 2030 Challenge, net zero and now decarbonization requirements have posed increasing challenges for organizations, yet no matter how much harder it gets, we continue to deliver projects using essentially the same processes, without focusing on higher level practice transformation to address culture, systems, and collaboration effectiveness. A critical gap remains between rising performance goals and the organizational capacity to achieve them consistently. Does your organization have internally driven performance goals? Has your firm been intentional about developing a project delivery methodology that is aligned with achieving net zero? The answer to these questions is typically “no”. Change management has never been a discipline embedded in the culture of many organizations, yet we are constantly dealing with changes being thrown at us. Many organizations assume that creating goals and a roadmap are the solution, rather than the beginning. Success requires treating the change management process as a ‘design’ problem, intentionally engaging staff strategically, from the beginning, to ensure buy-in and that the goals and plans “stick”. Now is the time to proactively manage the changes needed to be successful, create cultures of innovation and make organizational excellence our pathway to success. Without fundamental transformation within the organization, we will never consistently realize the behaviors needed to become climate positive firms. This interactive session shares frameworks, tools, and strategies for operational change, enabling a more competitive, climate positive, resilient practice.
