Team AI, their whole concept

bridge the gap between people and

Where Team Human did somewhat of
the opposite and their whole idea

capabilities and really take human

You know, when, when I was invited
to join this process, I really did it

because I love Jodi and it was, and I
left there, I was like, this was really,

really fun and really eyeopening and I
think what I liked most about it is I

think that, and I don't mean to speak
for you, Mark, but I feel like Mark and

I both gained even more respect for each
other and our processes and everything

that we're doing because there were so
many times during it, I was just like,

I actually walked away more inspired
to use AI in my day to day life and in

my work and took away some really good
lessons from Cathy and Team Machine,

but it was also super fun to collaborate
with Geoff, my partner in person.

It was really fun to see
sort of the contrast.

collaborating too, right?

And it was interesting to, when you're in
person working with another human and a

creative human, it's more likely that you
might come up with less expected outcomes.

We also knew going in that we wouldn't
stand a chance against AI unless we took

a less expected approach and came up with
something unexpected and interesting.

And hopefully that's what we did.

I know that Mark and Geoff started with
a brainstorming approach, and maybe

you can just give me a little bit of
an idea of what that approach was.

Well, you know, I had a bit of an unfair
advantage because I had, I brought with

me an excellent strategist for a partner.

And so we were able to use a
process that we use in our daily

{{00:02:15}}
life, as we do this work, it's
called the dogma heresy workshop.

And it's something that
Geoff often leads with.

We use analogue tools, markers,
papers, things of that nature, to kind

{{00:02:27}}
of work through our initial ideas.

{{00:02:29}}
And it helped us land on that less
expected outcome, because the whole

point of the Dogma Heresy exercise is
to kind of state the Dogmas, what the

{{00:02:37}}
obvious expectations and things are,
and then unearth those and upend them,

{{00:02:42}}
if you will, and turn them upside down.

{{00:02:43}}
And Cathy, for your side of the challenge,
I know You had mentioned during it that,

that you missed the creative energy.

That you're like, Oh, I
want to be over there.

They're having fun, they're throwing
papers around, they're talking.

I had all these tools open.

I was going back and forth between
the two, two tools throwing, or quite

a few tools, throwing in the prompts,
throwing in what the goal of the project

was, and all these different things.

What I struggled with was the
volume of the information that

AI was able to give back to me.

And for me to be able to go
through it all and say, this one

sounds good, this one sounds good.

And then take that and
then build from that.

So the speed was on my side a little bit,
but I also feel like I was overwhelmed

by the value of some really good thoughts
mixed in with some really crummy thoughts.

You know, when Mark and Geoff were
able just to tear it up and throw it

aside pretty early in their process
so they could dig into their process.

I spent a lot of time on the front end
trying to just digest all this content

and see where I wanted to go from there.

I wish I would have had,
you know, that person there.

So we could have been doing
those things together.

How great would it have been if the
three of us, Mark, Geoff, and I were

all together doing the AI part and
then 45 minutes together doing the,

So when you look at the results we were
presenting, theirs was so detail oriented

and so focused and so laser focused on
that one thing and that big exciting

thing where mine was, we can do all these
things, but maybe only a couple of them

would really have been meaty and been the
things we really wanted to take forth.

Now, as a big disclaimer, we did
use various AI tools to complete

So, from ChatGPT kind of writing some
of the initial brief, to AI generated

images and videos that we pulled
together for some of the visuals at the

end of the pitch, even down to Cathy's
AI voice teammate in the final video.

So, What were your thoughts on the
final results and maybe even some

of the limitations that we saw
in the post production imagery?

The value in coming up with something
very quickly, being able to illustrate

it, being able to animate it, being
able to really see an idea come to

life in, you know, in minutes and in
seconds, obviously that's great and

there's a lot of advantage to that.

Almost any creative idea that you come
up with in a minute or two minutes

is probably not the idea that usually
takes some iteration, some continuing to

work on it and getting it to, you know,
more creative and interesting places.

So I would say I don't think it's a
limitation as much as It would have taken

lots of iterations, I think, to get to
the final, but it was really cool to see

how the thinking and just the describing
what this marketing campaign might be

comes to life within minutes, like I
said, using the technology that you used.

If you could think of two to three
things you would say 'here's how

would your advice be for that?

Just be as specific as possible.

You know, what are you, you
know, for a campaign, for

You don't just write a few sentences.

Another thing I've learned is I can
ask the tool, what questions do you

have for me that I can better answer
so you can give me a better result.

What's interesting is that's
also true on the human side.

And I think interestingly, as we
learn to prompt our AI counterparts

better and get more specific and more
thoughtful about our prompts for AI

purposes, I actually think overall as
an industry, it's going to make all

of us much better at writing briefs
and prompting our human counterparts

to come up with the type of ideas that
we're looking to generally produce.

So I think that a lot of the things
that Cathy, you just said about  the

specificity and the need to prompt
your AI counterpart in these particular

ways, I actually have some of those same
learnings as it comes to team human.

And the way that Geoff and I have
to prompt each other and then

prompt the creative team to get
to the results and interpretations

of those insights that we want.

So I think that that's a great
universal learning for all of us.

this challenge, I'd love to ask you

are- are you concerned about AI's kind

of future implications in marketing?

Or have you, has this challenge really
shown you the value of human minds?

So it, this is going to be funny coming
from team machine, but I think using

these tools and seeing how it's helped
us in our day to day jobs and how I'm

using it every single day doing something
and reading other people's content that

you can maybe tell it's AI generated
versus human written or human augmented,

you really see the value that humans
right now are needed more than ever.

And we can use these

We can help do the things that we don't
always love doing, the things that we

may have a knowledge gap or a skill gap
on, and we can just focus on the things

the type of creativity that machines
