Nevena has more than 30 years’ experience as an insurance lawyer. She represents a range of health practitioners and facilities and advises MDOs and allied health bodies on a state and national level. She has extensive expertise in defending professional indemnity and product/public liability civil claims, and represents health practitioners in regulatory and disciplinary investigations by the National Boards (and their councils in NSW), the HCCC and AHPRA, has defended registrants in proceedings before the Health Practitioner Tribunals such as NCAT in NSW and SAT in WA and appears for practitioners and organisations in Coronial investigations & Inquests. She advises in relation to Medicare and private health insurer investigations. Nevena plays a strategic role in advising MDOs and peak allied health bodies on topics ranging from insurance cover, Medicare investigations and dealing with the media. She is a sought after speaker at health industry events and has been recognised in the peer-review guide, Best Lawyers in Australia, as a leading lawyer in Insurance Law since 2017 and has been recognised as a leading Insurance and Health and Aged Care Lawyer since 2019 and for her medical negligence expertise since 2021.

Dr Owen Bradfield is a dual-qualified doctor and lawyer, and is the Chief Medical Officer of the Medical Indemnity Protection Society. He has nearly 15 years’ experience in the medical indemnity insurance industry and has assisted doctors across various medicolegal issues. He is also a health policy researcher at the University of Melbourne and is a 2020 Fulbright Scholar.

Nicole is a solicitor in the Legal Services team at MIGA. She assists MIGA’s members by defending patient claims for compensation, reviewing responses to complaints and notifications from regulators, assisting with coronial statements and advising on all things medico-legal. Nicole has been practising as a solicitor since 2002 and has experience working in private law firms as well as in-house roles
