Alvin Ee
Research Fellow at Energy Studies Institute, National University of Singapore

Mr. Alvin Ee Wei Liang is a Research Fellow at the Energy Studies Institute of the National University of Singapore, where he currently leads the program focused on Energy Consumption, Carbon Accounting, and the Circular Economy. He supported several carbon accounting initiatives, including heading the development of the Singapore-centric Embodied Carbon Calculator for New Buildings, the Land Reclamation Calculator, and the Mechanical and Electrical Carbon Calculator. Additionally, Alvin supported various industries in evaluating the environmental impacts of different technologies and processes.x000D x000D Prior to his current role, he served as a Research Associate at the NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI), where he engaged in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) modelling for waste-to-material technologies and industrial symbiosis. Alvin also worked as a research engineer at the Institute of Chemical & Engineering Sciences (ICES), A*STAR, focusing on LCA modelling and sustainability assessments within the pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing sectors. During his tenure at ICES, he led an internal initiative to create sustainability indicators to assist researchers in their decision-making processes.x000D x000D In 2016, Alvin was awarded the IChemE award for his work on the “Development and Application of a Combined Approach for Inherent Safety and Environmental (CAISEN) assessment.” He holds a Master’s degree in Safety, Health, and Environmental Technology from the National University of Singapore and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Newcastle University.x000D x000D Alvin's research interests encompass Life Cycle Assessment, Circular Economy, and strategies for Decarbonization.
