Andrea de Carvalho

As an educational leader experienced in school and system reform in Victoria, the A.C.T. and N.S.W., Andrea de Carvalho helps schools improve performance by shifting culture, evaluating impact, and scaling improvement. She builds the capacity of principals, leadership teams and school based instructional specialists to directly improve classroom practice, through modelling of exemplary and contemporary pedagogies, through the design and delivery of rigorous and collaborative, practical professional learning for teachers of mathematics, and through the provision of effective mentoring, and strategic, personalised coaching. Andrea gained a Masters degree in Education at Deakin University, studying the underachievement of students with high potential in mathematics. As well as working full time as a Master Teacher with Sydney Catholic Schools, Andrea is currently working towards a PhD at UNSW, researching the impact of collective teacher efficacy in a longitudinal professional learning program entitled Mathematical Expertise and Excellence.
