Christopher Bowen

General Manager, Engineering Business Development and Bids at Downer

Chris Bowen is the General Manager Engineering Business Development for Downer’s Rail and Transit Systems business, which is Australia’s leading provider of rollingstock asset management services. With a background in engineering, Chris now works in BD, developing bids and proposals drawing out Downer’s engineering capabilities to better deliver value for our customers. With a strong interest in decarbonisation and energy storage, he’s developed concept designs, feasibility studies, technoeconomic assessments and technical proposals. Over his six years with Downer, he’s worked on flagship projects such as Melbourne’s High Capacity Metro Trains, and the largest fleet of passenger trains in Australia, the Waratahs in Sydney. Outside of work, Chris is an avid golfer, loves all things boating, camping and fishing, and in November this year will welcome his first child which will likely put a hold on most of his hobbies. *Chris would also like to thank his personal Marketing and Communications Specialist who does all of his work for him such as writing his bios
