Joe McGinlay

Joe McGinlay

Joe has been working in Railways since 1992 when he started his career as a Signal Technician. After transitioning to engineering roles in Scotland, Joe then worked as a Project Engineer in Competence and Training fitting out training centres with the latest signalling equipment. Joe then took on a UK wide role to improve turnout reliability where he led a team of signal engineers who delivered reliability improvements that helped Network Rail improve real time running of the UK network. After 22 years working in the UK, Joe and his family moved to Australia where he continued his career in maintenance, operations and engineering management roles. He is currently the Manager Engineering, Rail Systems at Rio Tinto, where he leads the Rail Systems team, which includes Signalling Systems and AutoHaul. An alumni of Leadership WA, Joe is a champion of 'courageous leaders'. Joe is a Chartered Engineer with a First Class Honours Degree in Railway Engineering. He's a member of the IET and the IRSE and is a Certified Functional Safety Engineer.
