Joseph Blum
General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer at NewVest
Joseph (Joe) Blum is General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at NewVest and is based in New York. He is also a Senior Advisor at Global Infrastructure Partners (“GIP”).
Prior to NewVest, Joe was a Partner of GIP from 2007 to 2020 and served as General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and a member of the Investment Committee. GIP is an independent infrastructure manager with over $74 billion under management that invests equity and debt in OECD countries as well as select emerging markets, focusing on established energy, transportation and water/waste businesses.
Prior to joining GIP, Joe worked for 21 years at Latham & Watkins, one of the largest international law firms. He served as Managing Partner of Latham’s London office for over five years and as head of the office’s Project Development and Finance Group. He previously served as Special Assistant to the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C.
Joe received a BA in Economics and German Language & Literature from Wesleyan University and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School.
