Nicholas Hughes

Nick Hughes is a Partner in Clifford Chance’s Corporate Practice and Co-Head of the firm’s Global Power Sector. He specialises in cross-border, emerging markets and domestic M&A and joint venture transactions. Nick is based in London and has extensive experience advising financial investors and corporates on a wide range of transactions in Africa.

Nick is the firm's Africa Practice Leader responsible for Power and Renewables. He has advised on many of the most significant M&A processes on the continent in the sector including the sale of Lekela Power (Africa’s biggest renewable energy deal), the acquisitions of multiple portfolios of REIPPP projects in South Africa and deals involving other generation, distribution and off-grid projects in multiple African jurisdictions.
