Paige Humm

Paige is a Specialist Behaviour Support Practitioner and PhD Candidate at Monash University. She provides a unique perspective as an Autistic researcher and practitioner. Her research and practice aim to directly involve, empower, and promote the voice of individuals living with a disability. She is currently conducting research into the social validity of Positive Behaviour Support by understanding the lived experience of NDIS participants, with a particular focus on reducing restrictive practices and upholding the human rights of individuals with a disability. Paige has professional experience as a clinical director, clinical supervisor, and classroom teacher. Professionally, her work has focussed on upholding the human rights of individuals with a disability by increasing the value, visibility, and voices of the disabled community. She has developed and supervised Positive Behaviour Support programs designed to reduce the use of restrictive practices and enable the provision of support in ways that are effective and respectful, and in ways that appreciate individuality and neurodiversity.
