Pia Mountford

Pia Mountford heads up Vertex Pharmaceuticals’ External Manufacturing group for Cell and Genetic Therapies. After 18 years at Bristol Myers-Squib in various roles, including MSAT, Operations, Strategic Sourcing and Product Strategy, Pia joined the world of CGT. At Juno/Celgene, her responsibilities included management of external CDMOs for the viral vectors associated with that company’s CAR-T programs. A move to CRISPR Therapeutics allowed a deeper involvement in the CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing autologous and allogeneic programs. The alliance between CRISPR Therapeutics and Vertex for the exagamglogene autotemcel program was the perfect opportunity for Pia to help lead the late-stage clinical program execution and prepare for commercialization of the product.
