Description

A discussion with senior real estate executives as they provide their perspective on the Land and Development market as well as real estate market fundamentals for 2024 and beyond. They will offer their insights on what they see occurring over the next 12 to 24 months, and their strategic thinking going forward. Among the questions to be examined:

What are the most significant challenges, trends, risks and opportunities for investors, owners and developers across Canada? What are the expectations for the availability of debt and capital for real estate in Canada, and how will that impact investment velocity and deal flow? Do we have a shortage of available developable land across Canada? What are the key challenges and supply issues? (regulatory, labour, materials, etc.). How can governments at all levels be more supportive of development? Do net zero commitments help or hinder development activity? To what extent is ESG being adopted by and impacting the development industry? What real estate market fundamentals should decision makers be paying attention to for each different asset types? Is the demand for industrial and multi-residential space sustainable? Given the increasing cost of land, materials and labour, can occupiers continue to afford higher prices and rents? What needs to change for the real estate markets to reach their full potential? Closing roundtable sponsor: REAP Capital Corp.
