LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v5 was introduced to the world at Greenbuild 2023 and includes the best of what LEED O+M has been in the past while embracing the Future of LEED by addressing climate risks, quality of life, and ecology. This session is for those that want to know about the what, why and how of LEED v5 O+M: Existing Buildings. We will share how we arrived at the current version of LEED v5 O+M, why project teams will want to pursue LEED O+M v5 and how the rating system has international applicability. Our panellists, Existing Buildings Consensus Committee members, will lead attendees through the rating system highlighting lessons learned from Public Comment and the beta program, a program where dozens of projects implemented a draft version of LEED v5 O+M over the past year. Panellists will share how the rating system will promote project teams to decarbonize, embrace social equity, plan for a resilient future and provide a healthy indoor environment. These international presenters will share how performance metrics are staying at the core of the rating system, how the rating systems continues encouraging a scaled impact as well as alignment with global reporting standards. Learn about the state of decarbonization and why it is so important to educate the market on elements of a good, long-term decarbonization plans. Participants will get first-hand knowledge on practical international implementation strategies when meeting the imperatives of LEEDv5 on a variety of project types and the global green building community. The session will provide an update on the direction of LEEDv5 O+M, recertification and the various resources that will be made available for the formal launch in early 2025.
