Presently, Jo works with First Nation Engineering as General Manager. It is in this role where her prior work as a metallurgical engineer combined with a personal understanding of trauma recovery allows her to speak with lived experience and rare insight. The goal being to show non-Indigenous Australia a roadmap to rich reconciliation. Having worked with the WA Stolen Generations Corporation and occupying the office of the Chief Protector of Aborigines, she was exposed to the raw legacy of previous laws that still reverberate today. This exposure led to a deep understanding of her own story of removal from her Ngarluma family, culture and identity, and assisted on her finding her way home. Intergenerational trauma is complex, but Jo found the power of communities is the antidote and the pathway forward.
