Lakshmi Shyam-Sunder is currently Vice President and World Bank Group Chief Risk Officer.
Lakshmi was previously Chief Financial Officer and Director, Finance and Risk at the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), the political risk insurance and credit enhancement arm of the World Bank Group.
Prior to joining MIGA in March 2011, she worked since 1994 at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), also part of the World Bank Group, where she was Director for Corporate Risk, and Director of IFC’s Risk Management and Financial Policy Department. She helped develop IFC's client risk management advisory services and developed IFC’s portfolio risk metrics which formed the foundation for the GEMs initiative across MDBs. She developed IFC’s integrated economic capital framework and was responsible for all financial risks in Treasury, lending and equity investment operations as well as rating agency issues. She was also Co-Chair of IFC’s New Products Assessment Group.
Lakshmi is co-founder and Co-Chair of the Global Emerging Markets (GEMs) risk database, an International Consortium for Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and International Financial Institutions (IFIs).
Lakshmi has consulted for a range of public and private sector institutions in the U.S. and in emerging markets. She has also served on the Board, and Finance and Risk Committees of institutions in emerging markets.
Before joining IFC, Lakshmi was a faculty member at the MIT Sloan School of Management and earlier at The Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College. She has a Ph.D. in Finance from the MIT Sloan School of Management and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Sotaro Kato is Executive Officer and Chief Risk Officer at Nomura Holdings, Inc. Mr. Kato served as Co-CRO at Nomura Holdings, Inc. and as CRO at Nomura Holdings America from 2016 to 2020. Prior to that, he was the CRO for Nomura Securities Co. in Tokyo from 2014 and 2016. Before these roles, Mr. Kato managed a diverse array of sales and trading activities for Global Markets across both Japan and the Americas. Before joining Nomura in 2002, Mr. Kato spent 10 years at the Bank of Japan, where his final role was a chief trader for the Open Market Operations desk. Mr. Kato graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1992 and earned MBA from the University of Chicago in 1998

Matteo Coppola is the global practice leader for Risk & Compliance at Boston Consulting Group. He has worked with clients in a variety of industries and geographies on topics including credit risk, compliance risk, cybersecurity, climate risk, scenario planning, operational resilience, business continuity, and the risks associated with emerging technologies.
Matteo believes in a proactive approach to risk management, regulatory changes, scenario planning, and risk anticipation. He is experienced in the management of financial and geopolitical risks as well as crisis management, and has successfully led a number of complex transformation programs at banks and insurers, with an emphasis on credit, liquidity, and operations risk management. He also has significant experience working with regulators and central banks.
He is a strong advocate of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs, sustainability, and climate change, embedding climate risk and sustainable finance in transformation programs. He helps clients adapt responsibly, create value, and effectively mitigate associated risks in the fast-changing ESG regulatory and compliance landscape. He actively leads and participates in research and thought leadership within BCG and with higher education institutions to advance the development of risk management and compliance practices in the 21st century.
Prior to joining BCG, Matteo was Director of Centralized Sales at HSBC in the US. He returned to Europe in 2007 to join BCG and established the multidisciplinary Risk Management & Compliance team based in Milan.

Stéphane Landon is Group Chief Risk Officer, having been appointed December 2022, and a member of the Group Executive Committee since 24 May 2023.
Stéphane Landon joined Societe Generale in 1989 and held several key positions within market activities and central functions. He spent the first 20 years of his career in the Fixed Income activities of the Corporate & Investment Bank in Paris and in Tokyo, notably as Head of Foreign Exchange activities, then Co-Head of Rates and Credit activities. In 2010, he joined the Group Finance Department and was subsequently appointed Group Treasurer in 2011 before becoming Chief Financial Officer of Societe Generale Americas in 2018, based in New York. From October 2020 to December 2022, Stéphane was Group Deputy Chief Risk Officer.
Stéphane Landon is a graduate of the École Polytechnique, of the French Engineering School ENPC and of the Collège des Ingénieurs

Axel Weber is President of the Center for Financial Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt. He is the Chairman of the Trilateral Commission Europe and a member of the Group of Thirty.
He is the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Visa Economic Empowerment Institute. He also chairs the Advisory Boards of CVC Advisers Limited and Raisin GmbH. Furthermore, he is a senior global advisor of Boston Consulting Group and advises the Senior Management of Flossbach von Storch AG.
From 2012 to 2022, Axel Weber served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of UBS Group AG. He was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institute of International Finance.
Prof. Weber was the President of the Deutsche Bundesbank (2004-2011) and served as a Member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank, Member of the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements, German Governor of the International Monetary Fund and was a member of the G7 and G20 Ministers and Governors. He was a member of the steering committees of the European Systemic Risk Board (2011) and the Financial Stability Board (2010-2011).
He was Visiting Professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (2011-2012) and Professor of International Economics at the University of Cologne (2001-2004). He also served as a Member of the German Council of Economic Experts (2002-2004). Before that, he was Professor of Monetary Economics and Director of the Center for Financial Studies at Goethe University in Frankfurt (1998-2001). He was also Professor of Economic Theory at the University of Bonn (1994-199😎.
Axel Weber holds a PhD in economics from the University of Siegen. He graduated with a master’s degree in economics at the University of Constance and holds honorary doctorates from the universities of Duisburg-Essen and Constance.
