Ellen is trained as a medical doctor and practiced general medicine for several years.

Practicing sports at a high level, she also obtained a degree in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy. She worked as a researcher and lecturer at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB, Free University of Brussels). Ellen started working at the Belgian Poison Centre in October 2023 as part of the medical team. She answer calls on our emergency medical line, where the general public as well as emergency doctors can obtain information regarding exposure to potentially toxic substances. She also responsible for follow-up and reporting in relation to biocidal products.
