Jani RingborgJani RingborgLegal Service – State Aid Team at European Commission

Jani Ringborg joined the Legal Service of the European Commission in 2022, and he follows the Foreign Subsidies Regulation as well as State aid cases and litigation. Between 2013 and 2021, he was with DG Competition working primarily in the field of merger control. Prior to joining the Commission, he was active in the judiciary as well as in private practice.

Mr Ringborg holds an LLM from the Europa-Institute (Germany) and a Master of Laws degree from the university of Turku (Finland).

Ief DaemsIef DaemsChair at In-house Competition Lawyers Association

Ief Daems is Chair of the In-house Competition Lawyers Association (ICLA). ICLA is an informal association of in-house competition lawyers with more than 500 members across the globe. The Association does not represent companies but is made up of individuals who are in-house experts in competition law. Ief is also Associate General Counsel, Legal Director Competition Law for Cisco. He previously worked as Senior Legal Counsel at an Asian global conglomerate, and as competition lawyer at the Brussels offices of Howrey and Shearman & Sterling. Ief holds a MSc in International and European Politics from the University of Edinburgh, and a Master of Law from the University of Leuven.

Gordon ChristianGordon ChristianPrincipal Counsel Competition at Siemens Energy

Gordon joined Siemens AG’s Legal Department in Munich (Germany) as Legal Counsel Competition in October 2011. From November 2013 Gordon was Senior Counsel Competition, and since January 2018 was Principal Counsel Competition, at Siemens AG. Since January 2020, Gordon is Principal Counsel Competition at Siemens Energy in Munich (Germany). In this position, Gordon advises Siemens Energy on a worldwide basis on all aspects of Competition Law, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, collaborative and other horizontal and vertical arrangements, cartel investigations, antitrust-related corporate governance and compliance, and state aid matters. Gordon’s experience covers the complete range of the Siemens Energy product and services portfolio.

Prior to Siemens and Siemens Energy, Gordon was a Senior Associate in SJ Berwin LLP's EU & Competition Department (as it then was) in London (UK), specializing in EC and UK competition law, advising in relation to both cartel investigations and market studies / market investigations by the UK competition authorities, as well as on competition compliance programmes. Gordon has also advised on competition litigation matters, both in front of the ordinary courts and the Competition Appeal Tribunal in the UK, as well as at the General Court in Luxembourg. Gordon also undertook a client secondment in the Competition & Regulatory Team at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), where he advised on a wide variety of competition law and regulatory issues in the broadcasting sector.

Gordon graduated from the University of Exeter (where he did his undergraduate law degree, his LL.M. and his Ph.D), and he is a member of the Studienvereinigung Kartellrecht e.V. (German Antitrust Lawyers' Association) and the Münchner Kartellrechtsforum (Munich Antitrust Law Forum). Gordon is admitted to practice as a Solicitor in England & Wales and is an “Europäischer Rechtsanwalt” at the Munich Bar as well as a “Syndikusrechtsanwalt”.

Ana ManuelitoAna ManuelitoPublic Affairs Manager at UNIFE

Ana Manuelito is Public Affairs Manager at UNIFE – The European Rail Supply Industry Association since 2021. She is responsible for Trade and International Affairs topics. Within the scope of her competences, she promotes the interests of UNIFE members towards the European institutions, in particularly in the context of EU Free Trade Agreements and its government procurement dimension, as well as on regulations that impact the rail sector, such as the EU Public Procurement Directives, International Procurement Instrument and Foreign Subsidies Regulation. Ana is also responsible for the development of long-standing partnerships with foreign counterparts within the rail transport sector, including with the USA, Canada, Brazil and Gulf Countries. Ana Manuelito holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Portuguese Catholic University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University Nova of Lisbon.

Carlotta is a Manager in Frontier’s Competition practice.

She regularly advises clients on competition issues including merger cases, dominance assessments, and follow-on damages litigation cases arising from antitrust infringements. She has experience both before the EU competition authority and national competition authorities in the UK and in Italy. Her clients include companies in the digital, telecoms, retail and manufacturing sectors.
