across the globe, we are the backbone

I think it's important to note that
the things that we're already doing.

But I also think that there's a lot
of opportunity to tell the story

of the future of rail and how it's
going to continue to be supporting

Specifically with students at an
early age, very encouraging to see

the types of careers that are in
rail, whether it be an accountant, an

engineer, or somebody in the craft.

There's all different sorts of
specialty skills that are necessary

to make our railroads run.

Well, I would say the most exciting
part about being in rail is rail itself.

We have a phenomenal community of
people that are all geared towards

making our industry stronger.

The relationships that I've
been able to make over my 20

year career have been unmatched.

I just feel blessed to be able
to be a part of the industry.

I'm very fortunate to work for an exciting
organization that is on the leading

edge of all things in railroading.

We look at different types of railroad
research, to the point where we're getting

to do impacts and understand the impacts
on passenger service for railroad impacts

that may prevent those in the future.

So overall, a very exciting industry
with a lot of technology that

people don't really know about and
should take a look and learn about.

I did not even know that rail existed.

So I'm one of those people that got
some outreach in some unlikely areas.

I don't know if you can see the scale,
but I'm a fairly small individual

but basketball was a love of mine.

And so I would coach little girls
basketball teams as I was going to school

for my mechanical engineering degree.

And one of the dads introduced me
to what at the time was the head

of engineering at the research
organization that I'm a part of.

I fell in love with railroading, changed
my degree from chemical engineering to

mechanical engineering, and I've been with
my organization for the past 20 years.

So I think once you get into rail,
I mean how cool is it that we get to

play with trains all day, every day?

So those little dreams that you had
as a kid with your Thomas the Tank
