Claudio Mereu is a Partner in Fieldfisher's Brussels office. For over 25 years, he has focused on EU Regulatory law with an emphasis on the chemicals (REACH), pesticides, biocides, and life sciences industry sectors, as well as other regulated industries, including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, toys, electrical, and electronic equipment.

Claudio is humbled and proud to count the largest global companies, consortia, and law firms among his client network, having built and deepened these relationships over 25 years. He advises on a wide range of issues related to product approval in the EU, provides advocacy support, and handles litigation before European and national courts. He also counsels companies on strategic and business law matters relating to their commercial agreements and presence in Europe.

His expertise covers all aspects of product regulations and restrictions, including notification, data protection, mutual recognition, classification & labelling, marketing and use restrictions, parallel imports, environmental liability, product recalls, and data compensation negotiations, among others.

Claudio represents chemical companies before the European institutions, member state authorities, scientific committees, and the European courts. He also advises clients on the importation, regulation, and sale of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, GMOs, novel food, food supplements, and food contact materials.

He was involved in the first case of data sharing arbitration in Italy and in a case of alleged abuse of dominant position in pesticides markets, both of which he successfully resolved. Since then, he has defended a multitude of cases over 25 years in various fora, ranging from EU courts, to ECHA's Board of Appeal, arbitration panels, and national courts.

Claudio regularly speaks at international conferences as an expert speaker and panellist on pesticides and chemicals and is highly recommended as "Tier One" and "Leading Individual" by Legal 500, Chambers Europe, Who's Who Legal, and the Life Sciences Industry Report. He has contributed to a number of publications on pesticides, REACH, GMOs, and medical devices.

Claudio is a Member of the Rome Bar (Avvocato) and the Brussels Bar (Avocat). He is Italian-French bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish.

Mr Adrian Parra GarciaMr Adrian Parra GarciaSenior Associate at Fieldfisher

Adrián Parra Garcia is a senior associate at the EU Regulatory, Competition and Trade department of Fieldfisher Belgium.

He focuses his legal practice on regulatory law with special emphasis on chemicals, agrochemicals, and biological alternatives for agriculture. He is the focal point for cases in Spain and has relevant experience in approval and registration procedures of plant protection products, fertilizers, biostimulants, and means of biocontrol, amongst others.

Adrián has advised clients active in a variety of regulated sectors and defended clients' interests before public authorities at both EU and national levels. At the national level, he has participated in numerous administrative and judicial procedures before regulatory authorities and the Courts of Spain. In particular, he has worked on administrative procedures before the Spanish central government and the Autonomous Communities in relation to regulatory authorizations, infringement procedures, administrative appeals, and commenting periods of draft legislation. He has also participated in contentious-administrative procedures before the National Court and the Supreme Court in relation to appeals against national regulations, sanctioning decisions, and decisions from the Council of Ministers.

Prior to joining Fieldfisher, Adrián worked at the legal department of the IT company IBM, where he got involved in legal matters related to the public sector, such as public outsourcing contracts, public tender procedures, and research collaboration agreements with public entities.

He holds an LLM in European Union Law from the University Carlos III of Madrid and studied Private International Law at the American University of Washington D.C. (Washington College of Law). He also studied environmental sciences for three years at the University of Alcalá de Henares in Madrid.

Adrián is a fully qualified lawyer and a member of the Madrid and Brussels Bar.

He is a native Spanish speaker, speaks English fluently, and French at an intermediate level.
