Klaus commenced his career in the petrochemical industry then progressed to automotive component design and manufacture. He commenced to work in the railway industry in 1995. In 1998 Klaus was appointed as a General Manager at the State Rail Authority of NSW. He has been involved in rolling stock design and repair, rail safety and operations including preparations for the 2000 Olympic Games, the Glenbrook and Waterfall Inquiry, and the Fortescue railroad. Klaus has been called upon to provide expert evidence in Personal Injury claims, Industrial Commissions and the Australian Competition Tribunal. He has consulted to several of the industries largest rail infrastructure projects in his 29 years in transport. Currently Klaus is the Independent Safety Advisor and Independent Certifier on some of Australia's largest transport infrastructure projects.
