Richard Sarsfield-HallRichard Sarsfield-HallDirector at AFRY Management Consulting

Richard is Head of the UK Energy team, having joined AFRY (formally Pöyry) in 2008, and has over 30 years’ experience in energy markets. He has led AFRY’s energy market services expansion over the last 4 years, seeing a doubling in team size. He led the seminal 2018 study on ‘Fully Decarbonising Europe’s Energy System by 2050’ and subsequent studies for clients; plus studies on gas advocacy and security of supply and projects on gas storage, CCGT/CHP/RES valuations and energy M&A due-diligences. Previously he spent 17 years with Centrica plc in management roles covering M&A, commercial, and operations for gas, power and renewable assets. Richard has an MBA from Henley Business School and a BSc in Chemical Engineering.

Helge HauganeHelge HauganeSenior vice President, Gas & Power at Equinor

Helge joined Equinor in 2003 in a four-year corporate trainee program where he worked within oil trading, the Natural Gas Group, Project Control and the Corporate Planning Unit working with the Statoil/Hydro merger in 2007.

After the merger, he took the role of Leading Advisor for Economic Analysis for upstream before heading the Analysis Unit in the Natural Gas segment. Helge relocated to London in 2011 to become Head of Business Control in Global Strategy and Business Development and in 2012 took the position of Vice President of Finance and Control for global strategy and business development, where he also held the position as the Managing Director for Equinor in the UK.

In 2014, Helge relocated to Houston where held the position of Vice President, Finance and Control for Equinor’s North American business. In 2017 he moved back to Norway and held the position as Vice President Finance and control for the MMP business area (Marketing, Midstream and Processing). In 2020 Helge took the position as Senior Vice President for Equinor’s gas and power business.

Helge holds a master’s degree in Economics and Finance from the Norwegian School of Economics. He holds numerous board positions in Statoil’s subsidiaries and also serves as Chairman of the BoD of Danske Commodities, which is Equinor’s subsidiary for power and short term 3rd party gas trading.

Justin JacksonJustin JacksonManaging Director at ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Europe

Justin Jackson is currently the Managing Director of ExxonMobil Gas Marketing Europe Limited where his organisation has responsibility for an extensive European Gas and Power portfolio including Gas and Power Sales, Purchases and Trading and managing ExxonMobil’s Transportation, Storage and LNG Regas portfolio. He has been in this position since 2019.

Justin joined ExxonMobil in the UK in 2001 in the Upstream where he spent the first four years of his career in various analytical, operations and commercial roles.

In 2005, Justin moved to Qatar where he was involved in the Al Khaleej Gas domestic gas projects and performed key commercial and analytical activities for ExxonMobil’s interests in the Qatargas and RasGas Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Joint Ventures.

In 2009, Justin moved back to the UK where he had roles as the manager for the Europe LNG organisation responsible for the marketing of LNG imports into the South Hook Terminal in Wales before moving roles to lead the company’s Europe New Business Development activities in ExxonMobil Gas and Power Marketing.

In 2012, Justin moved to Houston where he held assignments in Gas and Power Marketing Strategic Planning and Upstream Ventures organisations.

In 2015, Justin moved back to the UK and became the International Gas Business and Market Analysis Manager.

In 2018, Justin became the Upstream Commercial International Manager in the ExxonMobil Gas and Power Marketing Company with responsibility for all new business development activities for Gas and Power Marketing’s International Gas division covering parts of Europe/Caspian, Africa and the Middle East.

Justin was born in Hong Kong but is a UK national and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Cardiff University in Wales.

Kathryn Porter is an independent energy consultant with broad experience of the energy and finance sectors advising companies across the energy value chain on new projects, procurement, risk management, and the impact of regulatory change. Kathryn holds a Master’s Degree in Physics from the University of Exeter and an MBA from London Business School. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments and a member of the Institute of Directors. She is an associate member of the Executive Council of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Energy Studies, and writes a column for the Telegraph newspaper on energy issues

Carsten Poppinga has been working in the energy industry since 2001. Prior to assuming his position as CCO of Uniper, he was the Managing Director of Statkraft Markets GmbH in Germany (2008-2011) and OMV Trading GmbH in Vienna (2011-2014). Additionally, he held the role of Vice President Proprietary Trading at Statkraft Markets GmbH in Germany (2015-2017) and assumed the function of Senior Vice President Trading & Origination Europe and USA in 2017 until 2023
